Helping Long Island Families Navigate Senior Moves & Estate Home Sales

Thoughtful guidance for older homeowners, adult children, executors and trustees in Farmingdale, Massapequa, Massapequa Park and surrounding Long Island communities.

People come before the property.

A home can hold decades of family history. Deciding what happens next deserves time, clear information and respect for the people involved. Whether you are planning a move, managing an inherited property or coordinating a sale for a trust, start by understanding the choices—not by rushing to list.

Jared Garcia is a New York Real Estate Associate Broker with Weichert, Realtors® – Performance Homes and has worked in real estate since 2003. He helps families evaluate the property, compare preparation options and plan the practical steps of a sale.

Why Communication, Understanding & Patience Matter

A significant portion of my real estate business involves working with older homeowners and families navigating major life transitions. Over the years, I’ve found that I naturally connect well with these homeowners and their families. I believe a big part of that comes down to communication, understanding, and patience.

I don’t mind explaining something two or three times. I don’t mind sitting down with several family members so everyone understands the process. And I don’t believe anyone should feel rushed through a decision involving a home they’ve lived in for decades.

Sometimes the most important thing I can do is listen. My goal isn’t simply to sell a house. It’s to make sure the people involved feel heard, respected, informed, and comfortable with the decisions they’re making.

Start with the home and the people involved

We can discuss timing, access, belongings, needed repairs and a realistic market value range. Legal authority, ownership, taxes and benefits questions belong with the appropriate professionals. Jared coordinates the real estate work around those answers.

A few useful answers

Questions homeowners ask

Do we need to be ready to sell before speaking with Jared?

No. A first conversation can focus on options, preparation and timing. You can decide what to do after reviewing the information.

Can several family members join the conversation?

Yes. Agree on who should participate and who can authorize decisions. Shared information can help a family discuss the same pricing and preparation options.

Does Jared provide legal or elder-law advice?

No. Jared provides real estate guidance. An attorney should determine ownership and sale authority; qualified legal, tax and financial professionals should advise on their respective areas.
